Green-Onion Basil Sourdough Bread

More with sourdough this week, I love, love, love the stuff.  I got a great book from the library called Sourdough Baking by Susan Draudt.

It goes over the conventional way with sourdough and a section using the bread machine, so of course I had see what kind of different recipes I could find.

The one below is just awesome !!

Green Onion Basil Sourdough Bread

From Sourdough Baking by Susan Draudt

Makes 1 ½ pound loaf

¾ cup sourdough starter

¾ cup water

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cups bread flour

1/3 cup green onion chopped

1 ½ tablespoons dried basil

2 cloves garlic chopped

2 teaspoon sugar

¾ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon active dry yeast

Add ingredients to the machine in the order suggested by the manufacturer, choose dough cycle. When cycle is complete shape into desired shape and let rise about 45 minutes, bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. Or choose light setting on bread machine.

This bread is a great combination of onion and basil and a hint of garlic.  I think it would make great sandwiches, or like we did just eat it with butter or dipped in a good olive oil .

Stay tuned for more adventures in sourdough and other baking adventures !!!
